About Leah Morgan

Leah is an engineer working in fusion energy research; she believes science and engineering are for everyone, and there are no stupid questions!

Leah graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2018 with a master’s degree in physics and a strong desire to avoid completing a PhD if at all possible. She began working at the UK Atomic Energy Authority one month later as a graduate project engineer, specialising in diagnostics for fusion energy research. She became heavily involved with the outreach team and discovered a real passion for talking about fusion energy and connecting with audiences.

During the 2020 lockdown, when the opportunity to physically visit audiences abruptly stopped, Leah started filming YouTube videos on her channel Leah Morgan. She subsequently started her own science communication business and began speaking to the public about the wonders of fusion energy.

Leah firmly believes that science and engineering are for everyone and aims to meet people at their level. Her favourite part of any engagement is chatting to the audience and answering any and all questions they might have. She aspires to be a role model for young people by demonstrating that passion, energy, and creativity are more important than “intelligence” when it comes to science.

Leah has performed at comedy shows, schools, and science festivals all over the country, including Science Show-Off, Never Explain, Education in Action, Malvern Festival of Innovation, and more!

Leah is based in Oxfordshire and is available virtually or physically for talks, shows, school visits, and more!
